Jewish Community Services is pleased to be launching Seeds of Hope, a new service initiative to address the needs of Jewish individuals, couples, and families in the Greater Baltimore area affected by infertility and family building challenges.

Our first step toward developing a communal response to the needs is to offer a special professional development opportunity.

This two-part training will help mental health practitioners, Jewish clergy of all denominations, other communal professionals, and lay leaders deepen their understanding of fertility journeys and ways of responding to the needs of those in our community experiencing fertility struggles, including the use of Jewish spiritual expressions and rituals.

Julie A. Bindeman, Psy-D, Clinical Fertility Educator
Dalia Davis, MA, Co-Founder/Arts & Education Director, Uprooted: A Jewish Response to Fertility Journeys

As a result of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the impact of reproductive traumas on an individual
  • List methods that will enable individuals and families to advocate for themselves as they work through the reproductive (or grief) process
  • Describe mechanisms that a family can use to honor pregnancy losses
  • Describe potential impact that pregnancy losses and assisted reproductive technology can have on a relationship
  • Identify and assess areas of potential reproductive traumas
  • Identify how a community can lessen the traumas that members might experience
