Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program
JCS offers a Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) that helps people with chronic mental illness maintain or improve their independence, social living skills, and functioning at home and in the community.
One-on-one and group support is provided to help individuals maximize their independence and to prevent relapse or re-hospitalization.
Psychiatric Rehabilitation Counselors teach, model and reinforce skills of daily living, including:
- Keeping an orderly home
- Balancing a checkbook
- Planning healthy meals
- Shopping for groceries
- Maintaining a daily activity schedule
- Recognizing early signs of a mental health crisis
- Managing medications
- Keeping appointments
- Accessing medical services and benefit programs
- Practicing good hygiene
The Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program is accredited by the Council on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Services (CARF) and licensed by the State of Maryland.
