Jennifer Taylor, DSW, LCSW-C, RPT-S
Senior Manager, Institute for Professional Development & Grant Funded Clinical Programs
Jewish Community Services
Workshop Description
A review and discussion of three articles will provide the foundation to explore a very practical clinical question: How do we manage treatment when clients’ health conditions interfere with the consistency and stability of therapy?
How can we respond when clients need to cancel or reschedule appointments because of health issues, while maintaining therapeutic engagement, continuity, and appropriate clinical boundaries? And how can we help clients navigate the impact of chronic illness on their relationships, routines, and support systems?
Learning Objectives
As a result of this training, participants will be able to:
Critically analyze the impact a client’s chronic illness may have on therapeutic compliance.
Identify means of minimizing disengagement and lack of continuity that may result from a client’s ongoing health issues.
Implement clinical interventions that can help clients navigate the psychosocial impact of their illness.
