Military Cultural Competency: Using the Military Mindset to Aid Treatment

Military service members, their families, and veterans have unique needs that require a culturally competent approach to services and treatment. This training will provide insight into the “military mindset” and discuss key factors in delivering services sensitively and effectively to achieve positive outcomes.
As a result of this training, participants will:
Learn the structure, mindset, and norms which govern those who serve in the armed forces and impact their transition post service.
Increase their understanding of the military and veteran culture including the unique experiences and contributions of those who have served their country
Be better prepared to bridge the civilian-military gap and communicate more easily with military-affiliated individuals in our community.
Fees: General Public – $50.00 Teachers from Jewish Day Schools/JCS Retirees – $40.00 JCS Staff and Associated System Employees – Free
Social workers and other clinicians attending this program will receive 2.0 Category I CEUs.
Jewish Community Services is approved by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners to sponsor Continuing Education for social workers (psychologists and licensed professional counselors). Jewish Community Services maintains responsibility for this program and its content.
